Acne Care: Do’s and Don’ts
Acne is a skin condition that affects teenagers and adults. If not controlled or treated, acne can be a problematic and frustrating experience. Mild to severe acne cases can lead to mental health issues such as anxiety, low self-esteem, and depression. Also, acne causes hyperpigmentation(1) and scarring.
Even though anyone can have acne, the severity of its effects differs from one person to another. Mostly this happens because of the difference in genetic, lifestyle, skincare, and hormone composition among people. In this regard, you must take necessary precautions to stop acne from flaring up if you are suffering from it. Here are the dos and don’ts that will help you take control of acne and its effects.

Let’s start with the Do’s:
Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize, Exfoliate
In most cases, clogged pores are the ones that lay the foundation for acne. To prevent clogging, you need to clean your skin at least two times a day with a mild face cleanser and toner that’s not too drying on the skin. Aside from that, it’s essential to use a facial mist to keep your skin moisturized. Also, don’t forget to exfoliate your skin once to twice a week with an exfoliator that’s not too harsh on the skin to get rid of dead skin cells gently.

Avoid touching your face.
Avoid touching your face now and then. It goes against the skincare rules. Even if pimples pop up, and the urge to touch, scratch, and burst them becomes overwhelming, don’t follow through! It’s not the correct way of dealing with acne(2). Doing so leaves your face with bacteria from your hands that might aggravate your skin condition even more.
Drink plenty of water
We all know that water plays a vital role in our health. This is why it’s always essential to make sure you drink enough, or else it may lead to several health issues like skin dehydration, which may trigger excess oil production. With that said, you should aim to at least take eight glasses of water in a single day.

Support the health of your skin
Most of the root causes of acne result from hormonal fluctuations, exacerbated stress, sebum production, and weak immunity. To handle them effectively, you need powerful nutritional supplements containing high potency of vitamin B5 (3). They work by focusing on the root causes consistently and help control acne and other skin disorders. Plus, they support the inner body chemistry to achieve clean skin from within, unlike other methods that treat symptoms on the surface only.
