Most Common Health Issues You Shouldn’t Neglect

Your body is a complicated system that can work properly only if every part and organ is in good condition. However, there are a lot of situations when our body signals about some problem but we don’t rush to solve it. You should know that any of these signals can manifest a serious condition. That’s why we gathered these common health issues you shouldn’t neglect.

6 Common Health Issues

1. Regular headaches

If you have headaches, do not think about the worst because you may simply need glasses or antihistamines. Regular headaches can be a symptom of something simple like chronic allergies or sinus pressure. However, they can also be as complex as a brain tumor or stroke. First, try reading glasses or allergy medications to see if this solves the problem.

You should pay attention to all your symptoms. Whenever a headache is accompanied by nausea, vomiting, or visual changes, this is a serious sign that it needs to be evaluated as soon as possible. You should also know that if it is associated with a stroke(1), you may have such symptoms as facial asymmetry, weakness in the hands, and slurred speech. This is the most common health problems you shouldn’t neglect.

2. Excessive urination

If you have to visit the restroom in order to urinate more than eight times a day, it can be considered as excessive urination. Before you visit your doctor, try to drink less fluid, especially with caffeine or alcohol.

However, if you think that you don’t consume a significant amount of liquids, excessive urination may be a symptom of diabetes, urinary tract infections, kidney problems, pressure on the bladder, sexually transmitted diseases such as chlamydia, or prostate problems.

3. Stiff neck accompanied by fly symptoms

If you get the flu(2), it’s actually normal to experience pain and weakness. However, if you feel severe discomfort in the neck and it is difficult for you to touch your chest with your chin, you should visit a doctor immediately.

Meningitis affects the membrane that protects the brain and spinal cord. Moreover, its bacterial form can be fatal because it can kill you for a few hours. Meningitis symptoms may also include hypersensitivity to light, confusion, and a rash. By the time the rash appears, the disease is often in severe stage and may not respond to treatment. This other one most common health conditions to never neglect.

4. Shorter menstrual cycles

A slow reduction in the number of days between menstruations can be considered one of the most significant indications of a decrease in the reproductive system in women. For example, normal menstrual cycles have an interval of 28 days.

If your periods begin to repeat every 27 days and then every 26 days, this is the first signal of decreasing fertility. That’s why it is recommended to visit a doctor and perform a pelvic exam. Moreover, you should know that cycles shorter than 20 days may also indicate polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), uterine polyps, or thyroid diseases.

5. Sudden changes in vision

If you have such vision problems as double vision, blurred vision, or loss of vision in one eye, it can be a sign that you just need to have a rest. However, sudden vision problems can be a symptom of a stroke.

That’s why you shouldn’t wait if you feel any sudden, serious eyesight problems. Medications that counteract clot formation, should be taken during three or four hours after the onset of symptoms.

6. Chest pain

Chest pain is the most common symptom of a heart attack but many people usually neglect it. Despite the fact that indigestion, acid reflux, and anxiety can also cause chest pain, it is better to immediately visit the doctor in order to quickly perform a blood test, imaging or other tests to know exactly what is happening. If this is a heart attack, it can be nipped in the bud. This can prevent more serious consequences and even sudden death.
