Tea tree oil is well known for its anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and antiseptic. These properties help to treat cold sores. A study(1) says that tea tree oil had an antiviral effect on herpes simplex virus(HSV)(2).

How to Use

  1. Take dilute tea tree oil and add carrier oil (such as jojoba oil and coconut oil).
  2. Apply the oil on the affected area with the help of a clean cotton swab.

Dosage

  • To avoid skin irritation don’t use tea tree oil on cold sores more than twice per day.
